Here’s a poem I had read once a very long time ago. I don’t know why I remembered it today. So I searched it over the internet. Reproduced below:
To laugh is to risk appearing the fool.
To weep is to risk appearing sentimental.
To reach for another is to risk involvement.
To expose your ideas, your dreams, before a crowd is to risk their loss.
To love is to risk not being loved in return.
To live is to risk dying.
To believe is to risk despair.
To try is to risk failure.
But risks must be taken,
Becasue the greatest hazard in life is to risk nothing.
The people who risk nothing, do nothing, have nothing, are nothing.
They may avoid suffering and sorrow,
but they cannot learn, feel, change, grow, love, live.
Chained by their attitudes they are slaves;
they have forfeited their freedom.
Only a person who risks is free.
So this weekend, take that leap –
Risk admitting your love for/to someone
Risk writing that blog/post you haven’t for the fear of being ridiculed
Risk calling that friend/family you have been cut off from because of some misunderstanding
Risk trying that something you are afraid of failing at
Risk accepting Christ in your life
…..you just might find that it wasn’t so risky after all!
Have a lovely weekend.
